Ironic but to be away from those who made us brings this sweet and sour flavor that I can’t explain. We know that home will always be home no matter how far or the time we are away from it. However, our pride will never allow us to realize it until we are forced to remember those times when mom would cook for us or dad with his jokes would light up a dark day of school.

No one is exempt of been homesick, not even the students from America who despite not showing their feelings go every weekend home with the excuse of "washing their clothes".

We, international students live a different story. We are molted to be arrows that travel long distances to reach a target. Some long and stiff, other short and slick but after all arrows with the mission to pierce their dreams and give the archer the satisfaction of a great shot. We are engineered to fly with the wind but sometimes we forget to let the wind direction guide us to that final target.

We fear to not make it far enough and sometimes we even have the fear of chasing the dreams and goal written in our initial design specifications.

To summarize my intricate analogy, I would say to you that it is normal to feel fear of leaving all that you know behind, however, the values and ideas taught at home are that wind that will lead you towards your final goals. Test yourself and ask the archer to release you.

I asked mine 5 years ago and since them I have learned to ride the northern winds and every day feel closer to my first target...

The end is near...run for your life or else..present that final exam

After many months I am able to post something...

If there is something to learn about college is that despite the great time and fun you have in your classes and with the people, you are ALWAYS busy. Specially at the end of the semester time when the sea of papers, articles and exams threatens with drowning you all the way to the bottom.

So as i said before, i have this nebulous idea of becoming and engineer at some point but, for now I am training to be a physicist. Doesn't sound exciting I know but, I have to tell you that it doesn't matter how many sleepless night thinking about exams or projects, about quantum dots or hamiltonian equations i have to suffer, i just cant get enough of the gift of knowledge. The sweet taste discovering and experiencing new things. i believe it is just impossible to get tired of been intellectually as well as emotionally challenged every day.

It is more or less during this last weeks of the semester when the happy young fellow from august turns into a spectral figure that moans around the halls carrying a heavy load of book and thoughts about the "if i had finish that before maybe i could be somewhere else right now". Heavy looks and stressed backs make the characters of this drama as captivating as the hunchback of notre dame.

But like everything in life, at the end of this last week we start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Just like magic, the curse of finals week fades and gives a new air to those who persevered and survived the storm. The thoughts of christmas and valuable time with the loved ones gives strength to the fearless warriors that fight their last crusades in hopes for a better tomorrow.

Now i shall take that sword and ride to defeat this Mechanics homework that has kept me awake for such a long time.

Have a merry christmas and good luck during finals week

HOMECOMING MADNESS

Homecoming: An annual event at schools, colleges, and universities for visiting graduates.

With the definition of this word I start my post for this week. I do not know about your countries but in mine gong to college is a pretty linear activity. You wake up, go to class, get some homew

ork, go back home , do homework and get ready for the next day. Pretty routinely, not much to expect other than another regular day. But there is one activity that goes beyond the normal standard. Homecoming !!!!!

During the whole week there are games and visits from alumni. It is funny, the other day a student was giving a tour around the campus to the Augsburg class of 1960-something. Since those tours are usually given to people that are planning to attend to the school I told my friends “see guys, there is the upco

ming freshman

class”....hopefully you got the joke.

Homecoming comes along with a big celebration on Saturday befo

re and after the so called “homecoming football(american football)

game”. This year there was a good amount of people around despite the cold and rainy weather. I enjoyed of the FREE food, breaking the piñata with the Hamline University logo(the football game was against them) and the always cool block party after the game.

Anyway, homecoming is a great excuse to

socialize, meet new people and strengthen the pride of being part of a school in this case to be an AUGGIE!!!!

I have some great pictures (some other that are not that great) for you to “disfrutar”.

The First time is the Hardest Time.

Who would say that as nights get longer days get shorter, that time is relative and that love is not where you expect it to be.

I believe we deserve a proper introduction.
